Gayls Art is a platform for showcasing the original art of Gayl Rovere, who is currently both the Treasurer and the Art Co-ordinator of the Port Macquarie Art & Craft Centre.
The work is divided into several categories: Paintings, Pastel Portraits, Pastel Landscapes, and various sketches.
Paintings are mostly in oils and have been done in the studio, from sketches and/or original photographs. Everything painted after 2019 is of people and places around Port Macquarie - as are all of the works in the other categories. Of the work done before the move to Port Macquarie, much has been sold or given away, so doesn’t appear here.
The Pastel Landscapes are worked mostly from the Plein Air sketches.
The Pastel Portraits depict people who have sat for our group on a Wednesday afternoon, and the Plein air sketches are of places that we go to on Monday mornings. These are all done in 90 minutes or less, so they are often unfinished, giving them an immediacy that the paintings may not have.
